Lord Mayor Launches Learning in London

The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Louise Hyams, will open the first annual Adult Learning Fair, Learning in London, on Thursday 10th of July 2008 at The Friendship Centre in Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church.

Learning in London is a free event organised by several London colleges, including Westminster Adult Education Service, City Lit, Mary Ward Centre, Westminster Kingsway and Working Mens College.

The one day event is aimed at all adults interested in updating their skills and qualifications and those who are interested in pursuing leisure activities.

A variety of activities and events will be ongoing throughout the day to highlight the extraordinary variety of courses on offer at a number of learning sites across London including music, drama, tai chi and belly dancing. Siam Hurley will be making a special appearance and sharing her talented singing voice.

Moira Sharpe Careers Counsellor at Westminster Adult Education Service as well as one of the main collaborators of the event said, “The purpose of the Fair is to celebrate and showcase the wealth of adult learning available in Central London and to publicise the benefits of lifelong learning in the local community.”

Moira Sharpe also added, “It’s really nice to all get together and promote all the wealth of opportunity we have in London in a spirit of celebration.”
