Icelandair scores 475 out of a possible 500

Icelandair, the national airline of Iceland, has picked up a prestigious website award at the 2007 Interactive Media Awards.

New York / Washington / Reykjavik (eNewsPR) 15 October 2007 – Icelandair.com was recently awarded the ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ at this year’s Interactive Media Awards in the US.

Icelandair, in partnership with IT firm Amadeus, scored 475 out of a possible 500, doing especially well in the fields of content, usability and design. The Interactive Media Awards is an annual international competition designed to recognise excellence in website design, innovation and development.

Philippe Der Arslanian from Amadeus said, ‘Icelandair has adopted the full Amadeus e-commerce solutions for their website since 1997 and this award is a recognition of our perfected usability and design based on advanced technology such as xHTML. To stay ahead in the competitive online travel market, airlines need to continually improve their services for their customers’.

Icelandair recently changed its booking process by introducing a new fare structure which allows customers to book one way flight tickets and choose their exact ticket category. Passengers can, for instance, opt to fly out in Economy Class but return in SagaClass – Icelandair’s premier class service.
