SEMPO to conduct industry survey for SEO professionals certification program

SEMPO (Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization) is conducting an industry job task survey to determine the content for a possible first, ever certification program for SEO professionals.

Although numerous training and educational providers offer certificates upon an individual’s successful completion of their course, there is currently no organization that provides an independent assessment process that evaluates an individual’s knowledge, skills and competency based on job related criteria. While certificate programs provide a valuable resource in educating professionals, certification programs go a step further by offering an independent assessment that is not tied to a specific course, but rather on a defensible set of standards.

This survey provides a unique opportunity for SEOs to assist SEMPO in clarifying what material should be covered in a proposed certification exam for SEO professionals. This survey is designed to collect information on the tasks that are performed by SEO professionals and the frequency and importance of those tasks. By participating in the survey, professionals will help define the skills of practitioners, thus changing and transforming the future of SEO internationally.

For more information about the survey or to complete the survey, please click on the following link: SEMPO SEO Job Task Survey. (This survey is open to non-members. Please feel free to forward.)
It is important for us to receive broad participation, so please share this information with others within your field. Because of the importance of this survey, individuals who complete the survey by February 25, 2011 are eligible to participate in a drawing for a free iPad.
