Water rights agreement signed between Iceland Ventures Limited and Snaefellsbaer

An exclusive water rights agreement has recently been signed between Iceland Ventures Limited and the municipality of Snaefellsbaer in Iceland in order to extract spring water from the Snaefellsjokull glacier.

Iceland Ventures Limited, who has created the local Icelandic company IVI ehf, can now extract premium quality glacier spring water from the Snaefellsjokull glacier for the next 62 years.

IVI ehf, in partnership with the local community, will extract the water through the use of a new piping infrastructure, which will be delivered to a dockside factory in the town of Rif on the Snaefellsnes peninsula. However, with in excess of 7,000,000 litres of water running off the glacier per day, there is scope for the installation of further piping to accommodate.

Snaefellsjokull glacier contains a secure, sustainable, and almost unlimited supply of pure fresh water. The water originates as ice-cap melt-water and is filtered via underground flow through post-glacial lava fields. The water is pure, sustainable, of the highest quality, and has gone through FDA and European testing.

IVI ehf intends to bottle and market its product within the premium category due to the water’s exceptional purity, and with strong indicators as to the expected growth in the demand for water and the scale and quality of the water source, the business is very well placed for success.
