Thames Valley University hot on graduate employment

Students grinding their way through the clearing process will be interested to know that official figures reveal that Thames Valley University (TVU) has the best graduate employment record against its benchmark in the country, with almost 95% employed within six months of graduating.

Students disappointed with their A-Level or Scottish Higher results needn’t be disappointed with the university Clearing gets them into: TVU is still accepting applicants, and offers unsurpassed career prospects for the future.

TVU, according to Times Higher Education magazine, has the “Best record for getting their students into employment” within the HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency) survey of the destinations of graduates six months after leaving higher education. The survey compared employment performance indicators for all universities across the UK.

94.8 percent of graduates from TVU were employed or in full-time education within six months of leaving their course, which exceeds the university’s benchmark figure of 89.8 percent by a whole 5 percent – the widest margin of any of the general universities in the league table (excluding specialist institutions) – making TVU the best in the country for graduate recruitment.

The news that TVU graduates are amongst those with the highest employment prospects will no doubt be reassuring to the university’s current students, as well as those applicants who hope to begin studying at TVU in the coming academic year – and many students in the clearing process would be wise to consider the options available at the university as well.

Commenting on the figures, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter John said: “Our vision is to be the foremost employer engagement university in the country and these new figures, supported by our outstanding employer and industry links, show that we are well on the way to achieving this. At TVU we believe in helping students learn from work, learn for work and learn in work and we will continue to prepare students for their future careers from the moment they set foot in the door to the moment they leave.”

Thames Valley has been a full university since 1992, but has over 140 years experience in technical and vocational education. For more information on Thames Valley University and the clearing process, visit www.tvu.ac.uk
