Oxfordshire Student’s Viral Social Media Proves Costly for Business Owner Dad

Radley, Oxfordshire – 18 June 2025 – What started as a simple work experience placement has turned into an expensive lesson in the power of social media for one Oxfordshire CEO.

Fifteen-year-old Leo Reynolds joined his father’s company, Hable, for a week-long work experience this June. As part of the placement at the Radley-based change management consultancy, Leo was invited to work closely with the marketing team – and given full control of Hable’s LinkedIn page for a special one-week social media takeover.

Before kicking things off, Leo approached his father and Hable’s CEO, Mark Reynolds, with a question: “How much will I get paid?” Wanting to nurture business acumen and initiative, Mark offered a playful incentive: £1 for every engagement Leo’s content received during the takeover.

Neither of them expected what happened next.

Leo’s opening post quickly gained traction – and by the following morning, it had gone viral. With over 15,000 impressions and hundreds of likes, comments, and shares, Leo had struck marketing gold. By the end of the week, his efforts had earned him more than £500 – and the number keeps rising.

“I wanted to show Leo how powerful social media can be when used creatively,” said Mark Reynolds, Founder and CEO of Hable. “But I didn’t expect to be quite this out of pocket!”

Leo, for his part, is delighted – and already has plans for the money. “I’m looking at a new gaming laptop,” he said.

This lighthearted but impactful moment highlights the power of creative digital storytelling, and the importance of encouraging entrepreneurial thinking in young people. It’s also a reminder for business leaders everywhere: be careful what you promise your social-savvy teens.
