Welcome to Slottsholmen in Västervik, Sweden

Slottsholmen, located by the sea in an idyllic and charming small town with opportunities for canoeing and other nature experiences, is a fine
tourist destination. A meeting place for residents of Västervik and a destination for visitors from near and far.

The floating Slottsholmen on Water hotel, with 360° sea view, is situated by the beautiful Slottsholmen and is the largest floating hotel platform in the Nordic region. The Ulvaeus family hopes that the breathtaking views in all directions and the outstanding central location on a small island next to the town’s ruined castle will make Slottsholmen one of the top tourist destinations this summer.

#SlottsholmenVastervik

– I am very proud of Slottsholmen, which I hope will attract a lot of visitors to Västervik, so they can also enjoy my childhood home town. I remember being an errand boy during the summer on Gränsö, the cherry trees which my cousins and I climbed, our summer house on Horn’s Udde, and the sailing trips in the Västervik archipelago with my friends Christer and Tony. I’m really happy that my youngest daughter Anna and her family have moved to Västervik and now run the Slottsholmen complex, says Björn Ulvaeus.

– We have big plans for the Slottsholmen complex, and are in particular working to implement a sustainable food philosophy in which deliberate choices, such as using locally grown and locally produced goods, are a given throughout the entire business. I am very proud to be able to continue my father’s vision, says Anna Ulvaeus, Managing Director Slottsholmen.

About Slottsholmen
Slottsholmen is a vibrant meeting place during the whole year, a unique location – a living room for Västervik’s residents as well as visitors to one of Sweden’s most beautiful places. The building, constructed using hand-made brick, glass and wood, has an outstanding location with sea views in all directions and houses a restaurant, event and conference rooms, a boutique hotel, apartments and outdoor serving areas.
The architects for the project are SandellSandberg.

About Slottsholmen on Water
Slottsholmen on Water was designed by SandellSandberg and the building has a wooden façade on a floating pontoon. The interior of the rooms is designed by Mod. Architects. The hotel has 33 rooms covering two floors, with a total floor space of 755 sqm. The roof is covered with solar panels and the existing geothermal system is used for heating. A modern desalination system powered by the solar panels on the hotel roof has been installed to ensure a good water supply for Slottsholmen even in the event of low groundwater levels during hot and dry summers. The contractor is 2A Entreprenad. The pontoon is supplied by SF Pontona.
