Norwegian Oil Industry set to grow in 2014

Norway, the eighth largest exporter of oil in the world, expects that oil production will decrease from 561 mln to 538 mln barrels between 2012 to 2013; however, 2014 will see a gradual recovery.

According to Gro Braekken, leader of industry lobby group Norwegian Oil and Gas, “It’s important and urgent to get new areas in order to keep oil companies on the Norwegian shelf and continue to develop it.”

When oil was discovered in the North Sea in late 1960s, it transformed the country’s economy. Now, petroleum accounts for 30% of the government’s revenues and 25% of the country’s value added.

Norway oil wealth creates thousands of jobs in the country. 50,000 engineers are employed in the oil and gas sector, but many more are needed to accompany the development and growth of the oil industry. For this reason, market leading companies such as National Oilwell Varco, Aibel, Roxar and Statoil, amongst others, are calling upon TUjobs.com’s services – the new online recruitment company specialises in recruiting industry specialists for the oil and gas sector in order to combat the skilled workforce shortage. The online platform has already released many job vacancies over the past year and the number of available jobs is on the rise.

This week, the highlights on www.TUjobs.com are:

• Technical Product Manager – Flow Assurance at Roxar in Trondheim
• Experienced Pipeline Enginner at Statoil in Stavanger
• Geologists at Statoil in Stavanger
