The Medallion speaker is selected by the Summit delegates, who vote for the speaker they feel delivered the best presentation of the day. Previous winners include Greg Jarboe, Dixon Jones, Inway Ni and Barry Lloyd.
Preston offered delegates insight into the development and growth of the Russian internet market, as well as Yandex itself and offered practical tips for organisations running SEO and PPC campaigns in the country.
It is not the first time that a Yandex speaker has been awarded a Medallion award; Evgeny Lomize won the award in 2010, which is a testament to the importance of Russia as an online market, and the desire of international marketers to reach a Russian audience.
WebCertain’s Andy Atkins-Krüger, who hosts the International Search Summit says, “It is vital that any organisation running online campaigns in Russia understands the market and its major search engine and Preston’s session gave delegates relevant and actionable insights into both areas, making him a worthy Medallion winner.”
Also recognised by attendees was Bill Hunt, who has won the award numerous times thanks to his extensive knowledge and experience in global search marketing.
The International Search Summit was held as part of SMX East. Other speakers at the Summit included Rishab Aiyer Ghosh of Topsy, Jae Choi of Naver, Janet Bartoli from LexisNexis and Andy Atkins-Krüger.
