The film studio is located is in a former aircraft hanger of the late american military navel base in Keflavik used during the cold war. The building has been under heavy renovations in the last few months and is now soundproof. The building is 5.000 square meters, divided into a 2.200 sq.m. (24.000 sq.ft) Sound Stage and 2.800 sq.m. of support areas. The building is surrounded by a 7.000 sq.m. fenced Studio Lot. Electricity has been updated to standards set by top film producing companies.
Atlantic Studios’ management team believes that it will take three years at the least to build up the ability and experience required to run the studio to its full potential. Atlantic Studios will be able to provide lodging, access to swimming pool, gym facilities and much more in close proximity to the film studio.
Domestic and international groups from around the world will in the forth coming weeks be invited for formal tours around the studio. Foreign movie producers should find Atlantic Studios very tempting as the studio offers extremely competitive prices compared to other countries. This is due to the low value of the Icelandic krona. In addition to this, the Icelandic government are also offering a 20 percent rebate on film production costs incurred in Iceland.
Atlantic Studios is located just 5 minutes from Keflavik International Airport which has direct flights to major cities such as London, Copenhagen and New York.
