Kings of Convenience to play Iceland’s biggest music festival

In its eleventh year Iceland Airwaves is going stronger than ever, with over 120 bands, artists and musicians ready to entertain the masses.

Despite much competition, Iceland Airwaves is still without a doubt the biggest music festival of the year in Iceland, attracting thousands of people from all corners of the global who wish to experience not only all the amazing musical talent that the festival puts on show but also to experience the culture and natural beauty that this unique volcanic island has to offer.

After beginning life back in 1999 in an aircraft hangar at the local Reykjavik airport, Iceland Airwaves has grown and flourished into something so much more than just a local talent show for foreign record label executives. It has not only earned itself a permanent, dominant position on Iceland’s yearly calendar but has also become among the most important music events in Europe.

The October music festival has been described as a ‘killer line-up of interesting bands’ due to the fact that it always hosts some of the world’s finest artists – and this year is no exception. Over 120 artists have been announced, both international and domestic including such names as, Kings of Convenience, Trentemoller, Casiokids, Kasper Bjorke, For a Minor Reflection, Olafur Arnalds, Hjaltalin, Pascal Pinon, and FM Belfast.

Iceland Airwaves takes place in the heart of downtown Reykjavik and as well as being the perfect festival location, it is also surrounded by some of the most beautiful and astonishing landscapes in the world that are all within driving distance. So after experiencing the legendary nightlife of the festival why not visit some geysers, waterfalls, lava fields, glaciers, lagoons and all the breathtaking scenery that Iceland has to exhibit?
