Iceland Express unveils exciting new routes for summer

The Icelandic budget airline, Iceland Express has announced its new summer schedule for 2009. The new timetable sees the airline increase its destination list to include 19 of Europe’s top cities.

The low cost airline connecting Reykjavik with top European destinations, Iceland Express has announced details of its 2009 summer timetable. Iceland Express passengers are now able to book cheap flights to Iceland from new destinations such as Cyprus, Geneva and Krakow.

A total of 19 cities will be served by Iceland Express flights from 1 June to 31 August 2009. The airline’s popular Copenhagen route will have 12 flights per week from Reykjavik Keflavik as well as two from the northern town of Akureyri.

Iceland Express’s operations to and from London will be concentrated on London Gatwick beginning in spring 2009. Altogether there will be ten flights per week to London.

Iceland Express’s summer 2009 destinations are: Aalborg, Alicante, Barcelona, Basel, Berlin, Billund, Bologna, Copenhagen, Cyprus, Eindhoven, Frankfurt Hahn, Friedrichshafen, Gothenburg, Geneva, Krakow, London, Paris, Stockholm and Warsaw.

Iceland Express celebrates its fifth anniversary this year. The airline began offering budget flights to Iceland in 2003 and tourism to Iceland has increased 150 percent since that time, due in no small part to the higher number of flights and lower fares Iceland Express brought about.
