Nordic Investment Bank Straumur expands

Straumur has appointed Mats Ericsson, Executive Director of the Capital Market team, Peter Bengtsson, Sales Manager, Capital Market team and Peter Näslund, Head of Research. All three will be based in the recently opened Stockholm office.

The recruits are part of Straumur’s strategy to become the leading investment bank in Northern and Central Europe and to establish a strong local presence in Sweden. The Stockholm office will initially focus on trading and corporate finance, with the goal of building a full service local investment banking business focused on small and mid sized institutions and corporates.

Fredrik Sjöstrand, Straumur’s local Head in Stockholm, said: “We welcome Mats, Peter and Peter to the Straumur team. They all have the experience and local network required to rapidly build a successful business in Sweden.”

Mats Ericsson has already assumed his position and is responsible for building up a sales team with a focus on structured products. Mats has extensive experience from the structured products area, with a background at Swedbank and Handelsbanken. He holds a BA in Economics from Uppsala University.

Peter Bengtsson will take up his position on 1 February 2008. Peter will be a member of the sales team and report to Mats Ericsson. He was previously a Senior Sales Manager at Nordea Markets, Financial Advisory where he served small and mid sized clients. He holds a BA in Economics from Lund University, Sweden and an MSc from London Guildhall University.

Peter Näslund joined the bank on 21 January 2008 and is responsible for building up the Swedish equity research team. Peter has extensive experience from the Nordic equity markets and was previously the Global Head of Research at Kaupthing Bank. He holds a BA in Economics from Stockholm University.
