Iceland Express links up with Expedia

Low-cost airline Iceland Express has signed a two year deal with Expedia to provide an accommodation booking service for its passengers.

Reykjavik (eNewsWire) 24 January 2008 – Expedia will provide a hotel booking engine on the Iceland Express website under an agreement which will allow the low-cost Icelandic airline to offer a broad range of accommodation to its passengers.

The deal, which came into affect at the end of last year, will enable Iceland Express customers to book accommodation across 14 European destinations serviced by the airline‘s extensive network. Passengers will also be able to book tickets for tours and attractions through the engine.

Alongside with Expedia, Iceland Express will continue to work with Reykjavik Hotels to provide hotel accommodation within Iceland.

Matthias Imsland, CEO of Iceland Express, said “Our key destinations are all growing in popularity with visitors and it was important for us to be able to offer the widest selection of hotels and destination services to our clientele. Signing this two-year deal with Expedia puts us in a very strong position to do this.”

David Roche, senior vice president of Expedia, said “Expedia has provided Iceland Express with a simple, easy to use booking tool that adds to its hotel offering and enhances the experience for its passengers.“

The deal with Iceland Express brings the total of Scandinavian airlines working with Expedia to six, and include SAS, NAS, Icelandair, Blue 1 and Malmo Aviation.

Iceland Express, which celebrates its fifth anniversary this year, operates low-cost flights to Iceland out of Keflavik International Airport near Reykjavik. The airline flies to the following destinations in Europe: Barcelona, Alicante, Berlin, London, Oslo, Paris, Eindhoven, Frankfurt, Basel, Billund, Friedrichshafen, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Stockholm.
