Christmas supermarket delivery problems solved online

The grocery comparison site, mySupermarket, has made it easy for online shoppers to find highly sought-after delivery times during the busy Christmas period.

London (eNewsWire) 22 November 2007 – As the Christmas season approaches, delivery slots for orders at online supermarket become increasingly scarce. In the last few years supermarkets in the UK have run out of pre-Christmas delivery slots for online orders by around 15th December. The problem is compounded by the volume of orders as shoppers flock to the Internet to stock up on everything for Christmas and New Year.

The issue has prompted a high number of public complaints by people unable to find a delivery slot at their regular supermarket. They then have the time-consuming task of searching through every other supermarket website for an empty time slot. The problem starts around the second half of November as people rush to book in deliveries whilst they still can.

mySupermarket.co.uk, an independent supermarket comparison website, has come up with a hassle-free solution to the problem by allowing users to check all delivery slots across all supermarkets at once. mySupermarket allows users to shop online at four UK online supermarkets, Ocado (Waitrose), Sainsbury?s, Tesco and Asda, whilst comparing the prices and nutritional value of products across all four retailers.

The supermarket comparison website recently released figures which showed that the price of turkeys has risen by around 10% at all supermarkets since last year, while the cost of Brussels sprouts has soared by 203% at Asda. The survey, based on a comparison of 24 like-for-like products, concluded that Asda is still the cheapest for the Christmas food trolley even though it saw the biggest percentage increase.
