Able Radio – The Swine Flu Station

A radio station has become the first to provide information on swine flu in the UK on an ongoing basis. Based on listeners concerns, Able Radio has started broadcasting advice, information and news regarding swine flu.

Able Radio is a unique digital online station for people living with a disability or limiting medical condition. In addition to their regular output they have added slots to inform listeners of both developments and how to deal with swine flu. “Our target audience are the most at risk group”, explained Station Manger, Ben Jenkins. “ We are not adding to the drama of swine flu but providing listeners information on which that can make informed decisions”. Growth in video news attracts film makers to Harrow

One of the UK’s fastest growing exponents of TV, advertising and promotional films has relocated their business to Harrow as part of a major cost saving exercise.

Film-makers, Feering Productions, has moved into the Avanta business centre on College Road after previously being based in Hertfordshire for five years. “There’s massive growth in the number of businesses, both large and small, that are now using videos and film to promote their business and whilst people are spending money on this they are also looking for better value for money,” comments Richard Goldbourne, Feering’s commercial manager. The President of Iceland, Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, has announced his intention to stand for a fourth term in office. If he is re-elected, Mr Grimsson would be the third Icelandic president to stay in office for four terms, a total of sixteen years.

Finland to head the OSCE

The Finnish Foreign Minister, Ilkka Kanerva, this week became chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Finland will retain the chairmanship for one year and will tackle disputes such as the Kosovo and the Conventional Armed Forces treaty in Europe.

Explosive Iceland welcomes 2008 with record fireworks

For a population of only 300,000, Iceland each year lets off a record number of fireworks per capita on New Year’s Eve. This year the import of fireworks topped 1,275 tonnes – an increase of 50% in 3 years.
