Due to its many centuries of isolation, the breed has developed strong characteristics and distinctive features that make Icelandic horses particularly prized among horse lovers the world over.

Never call an Icelandic horse a pony! They may be on the small side, but Icelandic horses are incredibly strong, sure footed and intelligent. They also have a unique appearance, with their thick coats and long manes which help keep them warm in the harsh winter. Tourists Soar to Ayrshire based Rowallan Activity Centre

JökulsárlónRowallan Activity Centre, located just 20 minutes from Glasgow’s city centre, is fast becoming one of Britain’s best and most exciting activity centres.

Last weekend witnessed more than 2,500 people visiting East Ayrshire to watch the 2009 British Show Jumping Association (BSJA) Champions of Scotland. The event was a fantastic success with Douglas Duffin from Fife winning first prize in the Foxhunter Second Round Qualifier for The Horse of The Year Show (HOYS). Read more…
