December 1st, 2008 Misc. Editors No comments

Gospel Songstress Sherrie Keys has recorded her own version of the classic Christmas tune, “What Child is This?”. The singer is celebrating the holiday season and her warmest memories of Christmas with a free mp3 download of the Christmas carol on her myspace page.

“With so many attention-grabbing headlines about the economy, I thought I might capture in song the goodwill often shown during the holidays. The celebration of Christmas inspires us to show Christ-like behavior during challenging times” says Keys.

“Christmas is a wonderful celebration. It’s an opportunity to show our love for God and our love for each other by sharing with someone less fortunate, whether it’s a gift, a toy, a phone call, a food basket or a song”. Read more…

Iceland’s iconic airline, Icelandair is celebrating the beauty of winter in style by offering 25 percent off economy class flights to Iceland and North America. The discount varies slightly from country to country and is applied before the addition of relevant tax and charges. All discount flights must be taken before the 31 March 2009.

Travellers booking on the United Kingdom and Ireland website receive the quarter-off price on flights to Reykjavik booked before 01 December.

Customers booking their flights on the Norwegian or Swedish websites have to book before the end of 27 November; but they also get the 25 percent discount on flights to the USA as well as Iceland.

Discount bookings on the Icelandair France website must also be made by 27 November and include flights to Reykjavik, Boston and New York.

Icelandair Denmark, Icelandair Germany and Icelandair Netherlands are offering the 25 percent discount on all economy class fares to Iceland booked by the end of 27 November.

Icelandic, Canadian and American customers are not left out either: the Icelandic website is now selling Icelandair’s famous Christmas gift cards. Why not buy a loved one the gift of travel in the New Year for as little as ISK 26,900?

Canadian travellers are able to take advantage of Icelandair flights to Paris from as little as CAD 603, London from CAD 551 and many others including Amsterdam from CAD 600. Also, the “Iceland Getaway” package offers an unbeatably good value taste of beautiful Iceland.

Customers in the USA have the chance to take Icelandair’s new “Unity Fares” – offering return flights to Iceland and Scandinavia from as little as USD 399.

As The IMF and the Nordic countries have banded together to help Iceland in its time of financial need, Icelandair has created Unity Fares as a way of saying “thank you”. What’s more, the strength of the US dollar against the Scandinavian currencies is making the region more welcoming to American travellers than ever. Unity fares must be booked by 27 November.

Brits to Avoid High Streets This Christmas

European study reveals British high street shopping to be most stressful and time consuming in Europe

Twenga, the shopping search engine and price comparison site, today reveals the results of a study that interviewed more than 3,000 internet users across six European countries, including the UK. The figures show that the main motivation to shop online this Christmas differs from country to country, with the vast majority (85%) of British respondents choosing to shop online because it is ‘less tiring and stressful’ than going to the shops and 84% choosing online to save time. The desire to spend less was the main motivation from France and Italy where ‘it is less expensive’ was the most popular reason to shop online.

Online Winners and Losers

Earlier this month Twenga released survey results concluding that the British, with 48% planning to spend less, along with Italians, the French and the Spanish are among the countries most likely to cut down on Christmas spending. So, with smaller budgets this year, the second half of Twenga’s survey asked where the money will be spent. Results suggest that well-known online stores such as Amazon are the preferred Christmas shopping destination for 72% of the British online shoppers (61% in Europe), ahead of multi channel stores that also have a high street presence. Less well-known stores face a challenge as only 28% of British users (25% in Europe) intend to try them. Read more…
