Building Excellence Award for UK’s largest complete hospital to be buuilt off site

Award-winning off-site construction specialist, Yorkon, has won an LABC Building Excellence Award for the Emersons Green NHS Treatment Centre in Bristol.

The project for independent healthcare providers UK Specialist Hospitals (UKSH) is believed to be the largest complete hospital to be built off site.

Portakabin is well ahead of industry average with 99% delivery success rate

Research carried out by Portakabin, the UK’s leading modular building specialist, has shown that it has successfully delivered 99.6 per cent of buildings on time and on budget over the past four years.

Construction performance in the UK has actually declined since 2005, when 48 per cent of building projects were delivered on budget and 62 per cent on programme*.

Portakabin helps flood hit community in CockermouthThe Portakabin rapid-response team has installed an interim building for two Cockermouth GP surgeries, which serve 15,000 patients, after their buildings were destroyed in the Cumbria floods.

Working over a weekend and in adverse weather conditions, Portakabin has just delivered and erected a 624 sqm two-storey building at Cockermouth Community Hospital as part of the major recovery and restoration plan. The new facility has 21 consulting rooms, offices and patient waiting areas, and will provide the GP surgeries with purpose-designed accommodation for two and a half years. Read more…
