Rock Island Auction CompanyEt av de fremste auksjonshusene som spesialiserer seg på klassiske skytevåpen og militære memorabilia, RIA, har kunngjort en snarlig auksjon for skytevåpen, Premiere Firearms, som vil gå av stabelen mellom den 4. og 6. desember.

Over 2.800 ulike våpen fra borgerkrigstiden, klassiske Colt-revolvere og andre skytevåpen som passer i samlingene, vil i dagene 4., 5. og 6. desember av selskapet Rock Island Auction Company bli lagt ut til bortauksjonering i en bygning med et areal på 7084 kvadratmeter, plassert i Moline i staten Illinois i USA. Glasgow Caledonian University’s research puts UK on international stage

Glasgow Caledonian UniveristyGLASGOW Caledonian University’s “ground breaking” research has been highlighted in a new report examining government block grant funding.

The university, along with 16 others, was used as a case study in Securing World-class Research in UK Universities: Exploring the Impact of Block Grant Funding, which looks at the cutting-edge research produced by teams across the country.

GLASGOW Caledonian University’s widely-acclaimed research in the field of musculoskeletal rehabilitation, including the development of a world-class human performance measurement laboratory and medical imaging facilities, was singled out in the publication.

Researchers are currently working with small and medium sized enterprises to develop a quick, personalised and cost effective approach to orthotics, aimed at maximising a patients’ quality of life. Read more…

Warning that food industry safety training will suffer due to recession

The cost-controlled modular video training system combines the use of off-the-shelf food safety training video clips, to illustrate the latest food safety legislation, with details of companies’ own health & safety processes and food handing regimes.

Explains Ken Robinson, “Good progress has been made in bringing injury rates in the sector down and to achieving better housekeeping, but the recession is beginning to challenge that with health and safety training practitioners coming under huge pressure thanks to a reduction in resources in many sectors, including the food industry. For years we have produced video training products for many of the UK’s leading food manufacturers but as the recession has taken hold, firms have been struggling to even implement best practice in using video to meet the regulatory health and safety training requirements.

House of Commons IAB Top Centre Award goes to Westminster Adult Education Service

At the House of Commons, Westminster, 25 November 2009, the International Association of Book-Keepers (IAB) announced the winners of its latest Top Centre Awards, which recognise the top IAB centres. Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES) was awarded the top centre prize for Level 1 Certificate in Computerised Book-keeping.

The Awards acknowledge the ultimate achievement of particular IAB Accredited Centres – enabling a greater proportion of their students to pass an IAB examination than any other Centre.  These Awards celebrate their achievements in the June 2009 IAB examination session. Read more…
